Talk Show Tony
Tony is a 10 year old Thoroughbred. He was a race horse at Bay Meadows and Golden Gate fields. Tony is the Grandson to Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew and Son of Thoroughbred Hall of Famer, Langfur. Tony was born in Kentucky. Tony’s carrier ended in 2007 after he broke his knee. He was thankfully rehabilitated but could never race again. Angry, confused & dodging euthanasia he found a facility to take him in. Two people were instantly pulled in to Tony. Although he was angry they stood by him. Jen cared for his injury and spent time with him. Sean, was Tony’s advocate, keeping him from being euthanized several times. Last month ERC was approached by Jen and Sean. Tony was going to be euthanized in one month if he did not find a home. ERC was warned, by several other people, that Tony was violent & mean, he could not be with other horses and at one time he attempted to bite someone’s head. With this knowledge ERC had to take Tony. He was misunderstood; no one was listening to him. He wanted desperately to be a horse. Tony arrived on Tuesday, Jen and Sean at his side, we set him up in a paddock so he could get adjusted to the environment. After 1 week he was pushing on the gate asking to get out. We waited til week 2. Finally we decided to give it a go. With just a halter, no stud chain (a stud chain was always used with Tony) he calmly walked out of his paddock to his new pasture. He walked in looked and walked around, then dropped his head and began to graze. It was AMAZING! He bonded to Morgan, our most dominant gelding, and has since fell for Dee. No violent episodes at all. Tony is busy being a horse, finally!!!! SANCTUARY
